Vinny Kuah Siew Leng has extensive experience in setting up real estate platforms, full-cycle asset management, and investment execution across multiple markets. She has successfully launched and repositioned mixed-use developments, logistics hubs,
and commercial properties, enhancing their value through strategic acquisitions, asset management, and redevelopment. Her expertise includes structuring joint ventures, optimizing asset performance, and securing investment partnerships.
As Managing Director of Emerald Co. Ltd., Vinny leads the company’s real estate development, asset management, and investment strategies in Japan. She is focused on building a diversified portfolio spanning commercial, residential, hospitality, and special projects, with a target AUM of USD 200 million. Emerald Co. Ltd. leverages her experience in investment structuring, asset repositioning, and partnership development to establish a sustainable real estate portfolio in Japan.
Vinny has more than 20 years real estate experience in Singapore, China, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia with listed entities such as Fraser Property, Keppel Land, Singapore Land, and Lippo Group, where she played a key role in investment, strategy, master planning, asset management, and partnerships across various asset classes, including retail, office, residential, and logistics.
She holds an Executive MBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and a Bachelor of Business (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is also certified in family office advisory and trust services from the Wealth Management Institute.
Shigeyuki Abe

Shigeyuki Abe is a distinguished expert in Japanese and Asian economies. At the age of 22, he was awarded a scholarship from the East-West Center and pursued his studies at the University of Hawaii, Columbia University, and Stanford University, ultimately earning both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii. Following his academic achievements, he engaged in research at the Development Planning Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok.
At the age of 30, he returned to Japan and has since held academic positions at Kyoto Sangyo University, Kobe University, Kyoto University, and Doshisha University, where he has taught courses in introductory economics, international economics, and development economics. Additionally, he has served as a visiting professor or researcher at esteemed institutions such as the East-West Center, the University of Hawaii, the Stanford Japan Center, the OECD, Brandeis University, Peking University, Thammasat University, the National University of Singapore, and SOAS, among others.
His extensive teaching experience on the Japanese economy led him to coauthor the book "Japan: Why It Works, Why It Doesn't – Economics in Everyday Life" (Latitude 20 Book, 1997).
Dr. Abe is known for his active engagement in field research beyond academia. He has led numerous economic surveys and collaborated with private research institutions in Japan on various projects, including studies on flooding in Thailand and assessments of Japanese direct investment in ASEAN nations. Currently, he serves as a Special Adviser at the Hyogo Earthquake Memorial 21st Century Research Institute, where he mentors young researchers and leads studies on post-disaster reconstruction, policies for future large-scale earthquakes, and demographic challenges such as the declining birthrate and aging population. Additionally, his research interests extend to real estate, particularly addressing the issue of vacant homes in aging new towns that were developed during the baby boom era.
